from Lily Driver

Dear Members

I have decided to resign from being the President of the LAA. I find that I can’t come to some of the meetings because of other engagements that I need to attend and also, it does seem to keep clashing with my holiday plans. Some of the members tried to persuade me not to give up the Presidency and I am very sorry to have disappointed them.

I have wanted to resign for a while now but I said I would keep on until a suitable replacement was found. I am delighted to tell you that Mr Brian (Sid) Calderbank has agreed to take on the roll for 12 months then he will decide after that whether or not to stay as President.

I hope you will give him your support and I hope that you, as members, will keep writing. I may come to the meetings from time to time, and I hope to see you then.

I send Sid all my best wishes and hope he has great success in the role.

With Best Wishes from

Lily Driver.

Here is a copy of our Chairman's thank you letter to Lily

Dear Lily

I acknowledge your decision to resign from being President of the LAA.  The Association appreciates your willingness to remain in the position until a replacement was found.  On behalf of the Committee and members, I would like to thank you for the time and attention you gave to LAA matters over what has been a rather difficult period.

As we move into retirement, life seems to get busier and the diary gets more packed with commitments and engagements. We fully understand your position and hope that you will be able to spend more time with your leisure hobbies of writing and painting and still enjoy the all-important holidays.  We shall be pleased to see you any time at our meetings.

We wish you all the best in the future.

Take care and stay well.

Yours sincerely

Pauline M Hutchinson
